Household tax credit rises to 40 %: how to use it
In 2026–2027 the household tax credit is 40 % of the labour share, up to 2 100 €. It already covers bills paid since 1.1.2026.

In 2026 and 2027 the Finnish household tax credit (kotitalousvähennys) is 40 % of the labour share of home cleaning. It used to be 35 %.
The Finnish Tax Administration announced the change on 13.10.2026. It applies retroactively to everything paid since 1.1.2026.
What changes
- The credit for work bought from a company rises from 35 % to 40 %.
- The yearly maximum rises from 1 600 € to 2 100 € per person.
- The 150 € threshold (omavastuu) stays the same.
- The change applies to 2026 and 2027.
Example
Say you pay 1 000 € for cleaning labour during the year.
- New credit: 40 % × 1 000 € = 400 €, minus the 150 € threshold. The credit is 250 €.
- At the old 35 % it would have been 200 €.
With 3 000 € of labour in a year, the credit is 1 050 € (previously 900 €).
These figures are an estimate, not a tax decision. See our prices on the price list.
How to use the higher credit
- Now: order a new tax card in OmaVero. The increase then shows in this year's pay.
- Later: add the credit to your pre-filled tax return in spring 2027.
Either way you need a receipt or invoice showing the labour share. Siivousvuoro invoices itemise it.
